Melbourne starts with SkyBus!

Ahead of Melbourne’s busy major events season, SkyBus has launched a new campaign celebrating the important role it plays for many visitors to Melbourne creating a memorable first impression of the city.

Melbourne is recognised as one of the world's most liveable cities, while regional Victoria is well known for its significant visitor attractions such as the Twelve Apostles and the Great Ocean Road, Sovereign Hill and Phillip Island.

Whether it be for major events, food and wine, its diverse multicultural communities, cultural experiences, or scenic beauty, visitors are flocking to Melbourne. Earlier this month Melbourne Airport announced international passenger capacity had soared past pre-pandemic levels.

Jason Balkin, SkyBus General Manager, said the campaign, titled Melbourne starts with SkyBus, celebrates the anticipation and excitement that brews as visitors travel from Melbourne Airport to the heart of the city.

"First impressions count. From the very first glance outside the bus window, you can feel the rhythm of Melbourne—a city alive with diverse cultures, a thriving arts scene, and a passion for sports that runs deep in its veins,” Jason said.

"SkyBus is the start of an adventure. For many visitors, it's their first taste of Melbourne's energy and our team are here to make that first impression memorable."

The campaign has launched ahead of Melbourne’s major events season which attracts thousands of visitors to the state and includes the Australian Open, Melbourne International Comedy Festival and the Australian Grand Prix.

It also complements SkyBus’s new partnership with Visit Victoria showcasing the best of Melbourne and Victoria to passengers.

This year SkyBus reintroduced its popular Peninsula Express service connecting travellers between Melbourne Tullamarine Airport and Melbourne’s bayside suburbs with patronage stronger than before COVID.

SkyBus’s flagship Melbourne City Express service continues to offer fast, frequent and affordable transport between Southern Cross Station and Tullamarine Airport with departures every 10 minutes at peak times.

For 45 years SkyBus has played an important role in Victoria’s tourism industry, connecting visitors between the airport, the city and beyond. SkyBus is a Victoria Tourism Industry Council Hall of Famer.
