Bayside Beaches in Melbourne
Make the most of summer days to take in the fun of Melbourne's southern beaches. Plan a day exploring from St Kilda to Brighton.
Start at St Kilda
Every big day of adventure should start with a decent breakfast. Beachcomber Cafe has bay views and an excellent range of early morning sweet and savoury dishes, as well as great coffee and smoothies, to get you going. On Sundays, visit the arts and crafts stalls of St Kilda Esplanade Market all along the beachfront parade. Everything on sale here, from jewellery to handmade soaps, is created in Australia. It’s a great spot to pick up a memento of your Melbourne visit or shop for gifts.
Beautiful Brighton
Along the waterfront, there are plenty of attractions to explore, including the Middle Brighton Pier near the Royal Brighton Yacht Club. The golden sands of Brighton Beach are where you’ll find one of Melbourne’s most photographed attractions: the colourful bathing boxes. By now, you’ll probably be ready for more food or a drink. Luckily, Brighton Beach Hotel sits at the end of the beach. Order a burger or some fish and chips and a cold glass of your preferred beverage and, if you’ve timed the day right, you’ll be watching sunset over Port Phillip Bay.
